2 things:
1) Minors cannot see "A"-rated submissions (or posts) and adults can 'filter out' age ratings they do not want to see, so you needn't worry about that part.
2) I'm looking at 'GrimmSketch oc ref' ( https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/grimmsketch/grimmsketch-oc-ref ) and while it is 'not for me', I see a lot of skill and vision went into the work.
In my experience it works like this:
No matter how much an artist loves their work, it will never be "Perfect". And no matter how displeased an artist is with their artistic output, somebody will love it just the way it is.
I suspect you might benefit a lot from watching 'The ToonHole-Tutorials' (it takes about 10 minutes to watch them all):
